In this article, you will find a document for each grade level that is designed to provide a guide to teachers on how to embed content from the last quarter of this past school year (2019-2020) into this year's (2020-2021) instruction.
These grade-level guides allow teachers to make instructional decisions about how to embed concepts from the prior year into their current lessons by showing where concepts from the prior grade are continued in their current grade. A benefit to using this document as a guide for instruction is that teachers do not have to do an intensive “catch-up” at the beginning of the year, which puts the content for this year behind, but can use this guide to embed content from the last quarter of the year throughout the content of the current year’s instruction.
Because teachers have access to K-Algebra 2 content on their digital platform, they can use Big Ideas Math resources to:
- Teach prior content by accessing the Dynamic Classroom for the prior grade level to present concepts to their classes.
- Create assessments and homework assignments that pull questions and content from prior grade levels.
- Use formative checks to see what students already know to better inform their instruction throughout the year.
Our Big Ideas Learning consultants and National Geographic Learning representatives are available to assist you with questions and additional tips for using these documents. Please distribute to your teachers, coaches, and others who will benefit from these guides. If you have questions, please contact your local NGL representative.
